CKD (chronic kidney disease) staging is based primarily on measuring or estimating GFR (glomerular filtration). CKD has five stages, but in the first stage, the kidney function is normal, but in the second stage there is a small reduction.
If you suffer from chronic kidney disease, the kidneys usually do not fail immediately. In contrast, kidney disease is usually slow over the years.
Chronic kidney disease staging:
1 ≥ 90 (GFR, the same below) normal renal function, but urine,
structural abnormalities or suffering from kidney disease genetic
characteristics
Treatment: Control blood pressure
2 60-89 mild renal dysfunction, other symptoms with the same period
Treatment: Observe and control blood pressure and risk factors
3 30-59 moderate renal dysfunction
Treatment: Observe and control blood pressure and risk factors
4 period 15-29 severe renal dysfunction
Treatment: Prevention of renal failure
5 <15 or receiving dialysis is very serious; renal failure occurred
Treatment: dialysis (peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis), kidney transplantation
Chronic definition: Two patients with CKD are provided with at least 90 days of interval.
If you are included in the table CKD III or higher, you need to remember the estimated renal function. These estimates are not entirely accurate, but the information provided is reliable enough.
Changes in staging: it is normal for measured creatinine and GFR to change from one point to another. There are some patients vary greatly from one stage to another, or even repeat the process. But as long as the condition is not getting worse on the line, pay attention to their average.
